I wrote a note tonight to a dear friend who has a “quiver full” of children. I wanted to share it because there might be others of you who have thought about some of the same things before. It went something like this, “I wish I could tell you to stick the kids in the bath and read a good book tonight while your husband is at Conference, but I know it isn’t that easy.
You are in the trenches, a Mom in action, a woman rocking the future of the world. You and I know it is of huge, huge importance to be a Mother.
I had an epiphany a while back. I really believe, in fact I know, everything we were told by our church teachers and leaders as youth when we were growing up about being saved for this time in the history of the world, is true. We are truly the chosen generation (along with our children who are now taught the same thing).
So in what ways is Heavenly Father going to use us to change the world at the end of this last hour? I absolutely know that Motherhood is at the top of important callings Heavenly Father has for valiant women. There are our other callings from God, improving conditions for childbearing families, supporting other women through depression, and so forth too that are of extreme importance. But the day after day mothering of our children is paramount.
No wonder there is such a huge attack on women. Conquer the mother, put her (voluntarily, even stubbornly) out of commission, just move her from the center of her family’s life) and before long her family, and soon the world, starts slipping and sliding down a very slick slope. (I dare you to say that five times.)
Let us never underestimate the power of our righteous influence in our homes and on the people who matter most, our children and our family.
